Read to Succeed

Welcome to the Vista Grande Library.

All classes come in once a week for a half hour of library time. Kindergarteners, Transitional Kindergartens, and first graders will bring home one book a week, and second through fifth graders can have two books out at a time. Books can be switched after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays.  All books need to be brought back to the library on your student's library day to be returned or renewed.

Report Resources

For additional resources for reports the Web Path Express on our Library Catalog may be helpful. WebPath Express is a part of the library catalog, and directs students to Internet resources that can help fill in some of the information that they may need for a report. In addition to our library, the Danville Library has many books, and you can request that a book from another branch be sent to be picked up by you here in Danville at no charge. As a resident of California you may request a library card from any county library, and Dublin, for example has a very nice Children's section.

California Young Reader Program

We will be starting the three 2018-2019 California Young Reader Medal picture books for older readers this fall. Students hearing the three books will be voting for their favorite around the Winter Break. Students in all grades will be voting for their favorite of the five picture books for elementary students in March. See below for information on the CYR chapter books for grades 4 & 5. These books may be read as a class or independently.

CYR Chapter Books

These are the California Young Reader chapter books for 2018-2019. If your teacher is not reading them in class this year, ask in the library about checking one of these books out!
