***PLEASE NOTE DISMISSAL ALL WEEK IS 12:05!!! Also, no library this week. Please return books if you have not done so already. Thanks!

Please note that conferences start TODAY. I can’t wait to share your child’s accomplishments with you. The conference will take place in our kindergarten room!!! Please remember that Fall conferences are TEACHER—PARENT ONLY. The children DO NOT participate in these conferences. Thank you for your cooperation!

Grandparent Day

THIS Friday, November 22 is grandparent day at Vista Grande. Grandparents will be invited into our classroom from 9:00-9:30. The children will sing a few turkey songs, share a piece of writing, and enjoy a yummy treat with them. If your child’s grandparent can’t make it, please don’t worry. All of the children will be included in the festivities!

Pilgrims and Native Americans

As part of our Social Studies curriculum, we discuss historical concepts such as people and events, past and present. During our Thanksgiving unit, we teach the children about the Pilgrims and Native Americans that were part of the first Thanksgiving Feast. We have created several activities to help the children understand what it might have been like “back then”. We dedicate  tomorrow to “Pilgrims”. The kids will make butter, taste cornbread, husk corn, and pattern with corn. We will dedicate Thursday, November 21 to “Native Americans”. The kids will have their face painted, participate in a special game and paint symbols on tee-pee material!

Now that the weather is changing, it might be wise to send a jacket to school with your child. Unless it is raining, we will have recess outside. It might be chilly at 10:30 in the morning, so to ensure comfort, please make sure they have a jacket or other warm clothing to wear! ALSO, DON’T FORGET TO LABEL!!!!

During the month of December, we would like to encourage you to come in to our classroom and share any traditions that your family celebrates. If you would like to simply come in and read a favorite holiday story, that would be great. It is important for the students to learn about other traditions that they are not familiar with. Please, if you would like to take part, come and talk to us!

Please Note:

Monday, December 2-I will send home a “Toys for Tots” letter.

Tuesday, December 3-We will post a sign-up sheet for “candy” house decorations.

Thursday, December 19-We will decorate candy houses.

Friday, December 20-We will have a school wide sing along in the MPR...time TBD.

***Cora Knese is our "star" this week!

***Thank you for your corn donations. Thank you to the Lind family and Marquis family who are working on prep at home.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Please be safe in your travels and enjoy the time with your family and friends. We should all be thankful!
