Principal Message

Dear Vista Grande Students and Families,

I am very excited to begin my journey as the new Principal of Vista Grande Elementary School. Vista Grande is a special place surrounded with caring teachers, amazing parents, and wonderful students. I know our families spend many hours volunteering in classrooms and supporting our school monetarily to give their children the best education they can receive. The phrase, “it takes a village to raise a child,” really rings true with the climate and culture of Vista Grande.

As I begin my 21st year in education, I would like to share my educational journey to becoming Vista Grande’s new Principal. I began my teaching career in 1998 in a 3rd grade classroom and taught elementary school for 10 wonderful years where I also enjoyed teaching 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade. I earned my administrative credential as a 4th year teacher, so when the opportunity arose, I switched grade levels. I wanted to know what it felt like to teach many different levels and understand the developmental needs of many age ranges. I then transitioned to middle school where I taught 7th grade Core for 5 years, two of which I also taught 2 sections of physical education. For the last 5 years, I was honored to serve as the Assistant Principal at Diablo Vista Middle School, which was an extremely enriching experience, and ultimately prepared me for my newest role.

I grew up in the City of Walnut Creek, where my husband and I still live and raise our two children. Our daughter will begin her freshman year at Northgate High, and our son will be a 7th grader at Foothill Middle School. Not only did I attend both these schools myself, I also taught at Foothill Middle School and am so pleased to know that my children are also part of a supportive and nurturing community where they will continue to learn and grow.

I am eager to be back on an elementary school campus once again and am humbled to be your new principal. I do not take this title lightly, as I am committed to working closely with our students, parents, teachers, staff and community of Vista Grande. I look forward to seeing all the learning that will take place this year both on campus, and off campus on our amazing field trips. I also anticipate the incredible school events that are a deep part of Vista Grande's culture like the Carnival, Camp VP, Gold Camp, Exploring New Horizons and many, many more!!!

Please enjoy our new on-line newsletter that our PTA will be updating every Wednesday! The Wednesday Weekly and Vista View have been combined into one and have gone digital :) Wednesday Weekly Update
